Ozzy Osbourne will be featured on a posthumous Judas Priest recording—and it’s a song Black Sabbath fans know very well. During an appearance on Full Metal Jackie’s radio show, Priest frontman Rob Halford revealed that an alternate version of his band’s “War Pigs” cover will have Osbourne trading lyrics with him. The idea came from Osbourne’s wife and manager, Sharon.
“She approached me with this idea, she said, ‘I love your version of ‘War Pigs.’ Is there a way we can get Ozzy?’” Halford recalled. “I was [like], ‘You’re asking me? This is gonna happen.’ So you get Ozzy singing a line, and then I’m singing a line, and Ozzy’s singing a lin,e and I’m singing a line. It’s the first ever time in my entire life that I’ve been able to do a duet with Ozzy, and I’m so eternally grateful and blessed that I was able to do that.”
“It’s just colossal,” he added. “When you hear Priest’s ‘War Pigs’ with Ozzy singing on that track, it’s just going to a really special place.”
Halford added that he expects the cover to drop “pretty soon” pending legal clearances. “The green button’s almost ready to go,” he said of the duet version of the song.
Judas Priest released their first cover of “War Pigs,” a track from Black Sabbath’s 1970 album Paranoid, on July 2, 2025, just three weeks before Osbourne’s death. The band has been performing the song in concert and vowed to continue doing so.
“WE ARE HONORED TO SHOW OUR LOVE FOR OZZY AND BLACK SABBATH WITH OUR HOMAGE OF ‘WAR PIGS’ – A SONG WE PLAY AT EVERY SHOW AROUND THE WORLD THAT FANS SING ALONG TO – REINFORCING THEIR LOVE AS WELL FOR THE LEGENDARY PRINCE OF DARKNESS….!!” the band announced on Instagram at the time.
Three days later, Osbourne performed the song for the final time at his Back to the Beginning farewell show with Black Sabbath.
Speaking on the Talkin’ Rock With Meltdown podcast after Osbourne’s death, Halford revealed he still couldn’t believe the rock legend was gone.
“It had been a while since we’ve been in touch,” the Judas Priest rocker said. “I just have the wonderful memories of the two opportunities I was able to sing for him with Sabbath. And then this recent opportunity to cover ‘War Pigs,’ which we still play at the start of our show, which is one of the greatest metal songs ever written. So that connection, we will never be severed in that respect.”
