Historic Downtown Gallatin, Inc. and the Palace Theater continue to offer plenty of entertainment and shopping choices to Gallatin citizens, both inside the air-conditioned theater and outside in the July heat.
The Kids Summer Movie Series continues all month on Fridays from 10 a.m. until noon. July 3 will feature 2025’s “How to Train Your Dragon,” and on July 10, the Palace will show “Beauty and the Beast.” Palace Theater staffers are encouraging young theater goers to show up in princess costumes.
On July 17, the theater will offer a showing of “A Minecraft Movie,” and on July 24 will be the Disney hit, “Lilo & Stitch.” The final Friday of the month, July 31, will feature “High School Musical.”
Admission for all films in the Summer Movie Series is $5 per person, which includes a small popcorn and soft drink. Showtimes are at 10 a.m. every week, with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. The Palace Theater staff cautions that daycare facilities must call ahead at 615-452-5692 to reserve a spot.
In addition to the Kids Movie Series, the theater will once again join forces with Apple & Dove Flower Co for its signature “Small Town Charm” event. Attendees can start their Sunday at 6 p.m. on July 19 with a hands-on flower arranging class and then sit back to enjoy the hit romantic comedy, “Sweet Home Alabama,” starring Nashville’s own Reese Witherspoon.
The tickets include concessions, wine, and a hand-crafted bouquet to take home. Local vendors will be on-site for shopping.
On July 11, a curated market will be set up on the square to celebrate “Christmas in July!” From 10 a.m.-1 p.m., downtown merchants and restaurants will also be offering “Christmas in July!” deals, as will the Gallatin Chamber of Commerce’s Farmers Market, which is open from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. as well.
Thursday, July 16, will showcase the second Third Thursday Sound Showdown — dubbed “Rock Night.” Dre Hilton will headline the show, and the night will also feature another three bands competing for the approval of a panel of judges and the live audience. The winner will advance to the final on the Third Thursday in September.
The Third Thursday Sound Showdown is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and go until 8 p.m. The evening is described by Historic Downtown Gallatin, Inc., as a night of great music, local vendors, and a family-friendly atmosphere—all available for free in downtown Gallatin.
On July 23, the Palace Theater will offer Jukebox Countdown, a review of the 1970s greatest hits. From 7-8:30 p.m., those who love rock, dance, pop, and love songs of the 70s are invited to enjoy the fast-paced, family-friendly show.
