Jamal Roberts on being ‘American Idol’ winner, going home to daughters
Jamal Roberts won “American Idol” Season 23, but he’s about to get even busier after recently welcoming a baby girl.
Bergen County music lovers should keep an eye out for a familiar face on the upcoming season of “American Idol.”
Jake Thistle, a rising singer-songwriter and Paramus native, announced his “American Idol” debut in a social media post Jan. 16, writing, “As most of you know, I’ve been having a blast recording the new record, and with that release on the horizon, my management and I were looking for some fun ways to introduce the music to a bigger audience.”
In filming for the show, Thistle had the chance to visit Nashville, Tennessee, and play for the “American Idol” team as well as some fellow singers and songwriters, he said in the post.
Ahead of the show’s premiere, Paramus Public Schools wanted to show its “Spartan support” for the 2022 graduate.
“As an accomplished singer-songwriter, Jake’s music already resonates with audiences of all ages, and we are so proud of everything he has accomplished in his career so far,” the district wrote in a post on Facebook.
Throughout his career, Thistle has had played for audiences all over the United States and Europe, says his website, which describes his music as a blend of “classic rock sound with a modern pop sensibility.” He often pays tribute to his influences, such as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Thistle’s next show, as detailed on his website, will take place Feb. 21 at the Ringside Pub in Caldwell. Until then, you can keep an eye out for him on the upcoming season of “American Idol.”
