Every fan of “The Traitors” secretly knows whether they’d make a better Faithful or Traitor. Now, they actually have a shot at unleashing murder and mayhem in the reality show’s famous Scottish castle.

Just two months ago, Peacock announced the celebrity cast of Season 4, which will premiere next year. Now, viewers are learning that they’ll get a double dose of deceit in 2026 with a civilian version of the hit series on the way.

Over the last three seasons, “The Traitors” has served up suspense and some major fashion moments (mostly thanks to its host, Alan Cumming).

The concept is simple: A group of contestants is divided into a group of Faithfuls and Traitors and competes for the prize, which is worth up to $250,000.

The goal of a Faithful is to seek out the Traitors, who are determined to eliminate (aka “murder”) each of the Faithfuls so they can steal the prize for themselves in the end. If no Traitors remain in the end, the Faithfuls split the prize.

Before making its way to American TV, “The Traitors” originated as a Dutch series, followed by a similar show in the UK.

Wondering how you can apply for the new civilian version of the show and how it will be different from the original? We’re breaking down everything you need to know.

The Cast

The Original ‘Traitors’

The first season of “The Traitors” featured a mix of civilians and celebrities, per Deadline. Seasons 2 and 3 included solely celebrities, including a mix of reality stars, athletes, politicians and other notable names.

Here’s a look back at some of the stars who appeared in each season:

  • Season 1: “Survivor” stars Cirie Fields and Stephanie Lagrossa; “Big Brother” star Rachel Reilly and Cody Calafiore; and reality stars Brandi Glanville, Kyle Cooke and Reza Farahan
  • Season 2: “Big Brother” legends Dan Gheesling and Janelle Pierzina; reality stars, including Larsa Pippen, Phaedra Parks and Shereé Whitfield; and “Love Island” stars Carsten “Bergie” Bergersen and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu.
  • Season 3: Competition show legends, including Rob Mariano, Britney Haynes and Carolyn Wiger; reality TV stars, including Tom Sandoval, Dorinda Medley and Chrishelle Stause; and a range of other stars, including Dylan Efron, Sam Asghari and Nikki Garcia.
  • Season 4: “Real Housewives” stars Candiace Dillard Bassett, Caroline Stanbury and Lisa Rinna; Olympic figure skaters Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski; and actors Michael Rapaport and Stephen Colletti.

Each season of “The Traitors” has been set in the Scottish Highlands and features gorgeous outdoor scenery as contestants take part in outdoor competitions.

Ardross Castle, where the show films, has almost become a character in the series and features plenty of twists and turns, like secret rooms and a Traitors’ turret where the Traitors meet in secret.
