The Oscar-winning actress turned to the French luxury fashion house’s creative director Matthieu Blazy for her premiere look, a sleeveless ice blue gown with a plunging, sinuously V-shaped neckline and illusion feather elements at the drop waist.
The dress’ structure included a fitted bodice with a cinched waist and sequin embellishments at the thin straps, neckline, cascading to the drop waist of the gown. At the drop waist, the material of the dress transitioned from a thicker consistency to a wispy, flowing fabric.

Bunched and bundled at the drop waist, the fabric gave the illusion of feathery styling, tiered atop a layer of flowing chiffon. When it came to jewelry pieces, the French luxury fashion house continued to play a role in Cruz’s look. She wore Chanel’s tweed embroidered earrings and the Ruban ring to accessorize her attire.
Cruz has had a close relationship with Chanel for years, dating to 2018 when the actress was named a brand ambassador to the maison by the late designer and then-creative director Karl Lagerfeld.

“It’s such an iconic brand and Karl is a genius, and I’ve been admiring everything he’s done since I was a little girl, so it’s such a pleasure working with him. He’s like the king of fashion and we had a really, really interesting photo shoot, so to be in front of his camera is an adventure,” Cruz told WWD at the time of her appointment.
Following her July 2018 ambassadorship announcement, Cruz starred in her first campaign for Chanel, spotlighting the French luxury fashion house’s nautical-themed cruise collection. She’s continued to wear Chanel designs on the red carpet ever since, and has attended presentations for new collections too.

Cruz stars alongside Olivia Wilde, Seth Rogen and Edward Norton in “The Invite,” which follows couple Joe and Angela, played by Rogen and Wilde, who invite their upstairs neighbors, played by Cruz and Norton, for a casual dinner party. As the evening unfolds, the get-together spirals into unexpected places. “The Invite” hits theaters July 10.
