Drama is on the horizon for the residents of Ransom Canyon.
PEOPLE can exclusively unveil the trailer for season 2 of Netflix’s Ransom Canyon, the Western drama starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly. The forthcoming season is set to premiere on July 23.
“Shhh, just listen,” Kelly, who plays Quinn O’Grady, whispers at the start of the trailer, which features glimpses of Texas Hill Country.
Fans then get a look at massive fields, horseback riding and fishing by the lake — all moments that come as she says there’s “magic” in the small town. “My heart is here,” she says.

The trailer eventually cuts to Staten (Duhamel) handing her a drink while at Gracie’s, their local bar and dance hall. “I miss you Quinn,” he says. “And I’m not going to make the same mistake twice.”
“Staten, I need to tell you something,” she replies, before clips of Quinn and her potential new love interest, Oliver (Ben Robson), flash on the screen. In another moment, Oliver tells Staten he’s heard “so much” about him, to which Staten replies, “I’ve never heard anything about you.”
Tensions rise among the Ransom Canyon residents in the clip, as the connections between rancher Yancy (Jack Schumacher) and bartender Ellie (Marianly Tejada), high school sweethearts Lauren (Lizzy Green) and Lucas (Garrett Wareing), and Staten and Quinn, are all put to the test. But, as the trailer notes, “Love finds a way home.”

“Love is a canyon, it feels impossible to cross,” Claire (Patricia Clarkson) tells Staten. “But once you make it to the other side, it’s damn near breathtaking.”
“Everything that happened, I believe, is fate making us ready for each other,” Staten replies.

Based on the series of novels from author Jodi Thomas, Ransom Canyon follows “the intersecting lives of deep-rooted families in a town where your neighbors know everyone’s business,” according to its official synopsis. Duhamel stars as Staten Kirkland, the owner of Double K Ranch, who is grieving the death of his wife and son. Kelly’s Quinn is a pianist who returns to Ransom Canyon to run Gracie’s. The pair eventually come together, finding themselves in a will-they-won’t-they relationship.

Season 1 of the Netflix series ended with Staten being unseated as trustee of his family’s ranch, while Quinn broke up with her boyfriend Davis (Eoin Macken) and left home to join the New York Philharmonic for six months. The second season picks up with Quinn returning home, where she’ll decide if she finally wants to give Staten a chance.

“All of our stories come from those three places: What are you leaving behind? Who do you love? What does home and this place, this land mean to you?” show creator April Blair told Tudum.
She added, “Love is at the forefront this season, and it’s really about people fighting for those relationships and fighting to figure out how to be with the person they want to be with.”
Ransom Canyon returns to Netflix on July 23. Season 1 of the drama is now available to stream.
