Wyomissing-based PENN Entertainment Inc. marked the opening Thursday of its new hotel tower at Hollywood Casino Columbus.
The 150,000 square-foot tower features 203 rooms and cost $100 million to construct. It features a full-service bar and restaurant — The Hill Eatery & Lounge — conference rooms, fitness center and an outdoor seating terrace. Construction on the hotel tower in the Ohio capital began in November 2023.
“We’re delighted to officially open our new hotel in Columbus, which further positions us as the top entertainment destination in the region,” Penn Entertainment CEO and President Jay Snowden said in a statement. “This opening marks our third of four retail development projects to open in under a year, and we expect to follow this momentous day with the grand opening of our new casino in Aurora, Ill., in less than two weeks.”

In addition to the hotel, Hollywood Casino Columbus will also introduce an expanded high limit table games room and speakeasy bar in the third quarter of 2026, pending customary regulatory approvals, the company said in a press release. Penn estimates the overall expansion will add 150 new jobs at the property.
Following Thursday’s grand opening, activities were planned for Friday, including a processional led by the Ohio State University Alumni Band, a Bret Michaels concert and a fireworks show.
The Columbus tower is the third of Penn’s previously announced growth projects to be completed. In 2025, it opened an all-new land-based casino in Joliet, Ill., and a new hotel tower at M Resort Spa Casino Las Vegas. The Hollywood Casino Aurora is expected to open June 24, and another relocation to a new land-based property in Council Bluffs, Iowa, is anticipated to open in 2028, each pending regulatory approvals, according to the release.
Penn Entertainment Inc., together with its subsidiaries, operates in 28 jurisdictions throughout North America, with a diversified portfolio of casinos, racetracks, and online sports betting and iCasino offerings.
