Hollywood is ruthless, but Reddit might be even worse. In a recent thread, people shared the celebrities they think are desperately trying to hold onto careers that have already peaked, and let’s just say…they did not hold back.
1. “Dwayne Johnson. People liked him when he made dumb-but-funny movies. They’re fed up with the guy who thinks he’s reached a sort of legendary status and can be the linchpin of an entire movie universe. His attempt to hijack the DCU ended humiliatingly.”
2. “Jennifer Lopez. She has to have one of the biggest ego-to-talent ratios of all time. The self-financed documentary and movie, in which she acted like she was one of the greatest love stories ever told, was unbelievably embarrassing. Then the tour got canceled.”

3. “Kanye. And I say this as someone who thinks his 2004 – 2013 run is basically untouchable. But at some point, the ‘genius who says crazy things’ narrative flipped, and now it’s just a guy saying crazy things. The music isn’t covering for it anymore, and nobody around him is going to tell him that.”

4. “Nate Bargatze was an absolutely beloved comedian who never swore and rarely touched politics, which made him someone almost everyone could enjoy. Then he attended Trump’s 80th birthday/UFC event at the White House, and many fans felt that it changed the way they viewed him. My brother in Christ, if you’re going to be the guy who doesn’t touch politics, you have to actually stay away from politics.”
5. “Cristiano Ronaldo. Unlike many other picks here, whose careers depend entirely on their popularity, which is fading, Ronaldo’s depends on his physical prowess, and that’s fading too. His popularity might still be very high, but many people can see that his body isn’t always keeping up with his mind on the field. He’s not the player he once was, and even some fans are struggling to defend his performance.”
6. “Jared Leto. At this point, his career feels less like a profession and more like a bizarre vanity project. Between the exhausting ‘method acting’ stunts that seem to alienate his co-stars, starring in box office disappointments like Morbius, and his band’s controversial island retreats, it’s mind-boggling that studios keep handing him multimillion-dollar roles. The general public checked out a long time ago, but he still carries himself like he’s the undisputed king of Hollywood.”
7. “Nicki Minaj. She tanked her legacy by picking fights with the newer wave of artists instead of embracing the role of the respected veteran. It feels like she’s insecure about losing the spotlight and doesn’t realize the public shifted years ago.”

8. “Katherine Heigl. She has a history of being terrible to work with and bashing her coworkers. She said in an interview that she thought Knocked Up, the movie that made her famous, was sexist. Then she said the writers on Grey’s Anatomy weren’t doing a good job with her character and actually refused to be considered for an Emmy. She has no filter, and it basically halted her career as a leading woman.”
9. “Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. I don’t think they’ll recover. She dragged everyone down with her, and their recent public appearances seem to be making things worse. Does she think grabbing his butt in front of cameras will make people like her again?”
10. “Ellen DeGeneres. I have NEVER liked Ellen, and all the ‘pranks’ she did on her show made me uncomfortable. As a member of the LGBT community, people didn’t understand why I didn’t like or support her. When it all came out, I was not at all surprised and don’t know how anyone else was. She was actively mean. A bully.”
11. “Chris Pratt. Mainly due to the fact that the only thing he’s done outside of the MCU with any sort of success was the new Jurassic Park movies, and most people watch those once and forget about them. The only time I ever see any of his other movies discussed is when people want to talk about how Passengers is a horror movie. That’s it. Doesn’t really scream A-list actor to me.”

12. “Diddy. His entire music legacy is just quietly being erased in real time, and there are still people in his circle acting like a comeback is a matter of timing rather than a matter of never. That’s not holding on by a thread. That’s holding on by a delusion.”
13. “Jojo Siwa. The cringe is the product. The only thing keeping her in the news and keeping her relevant is how she keeps doing really embarrassing things with zero self-reflection. She’s not talented enough to sell on music or dance alone. Reinventing KISS’s costumes. Acting like she discovered lesbianism for the world. That’s her gimmick.”
14. “Lizzo. I used to be such a huge Lizzo fan, and I hate that she did what she did. She refuses to take any sort of accountability for her actions. I also feel like her cancellation was one of the major factors that launched the skinnytok/fatphobia era, along with celebrities promoting Ozempic and the ‘Rich Men North of Richmond’ song. Her album flopped because of the lawsuit.”
15. “Will Smith. The post slap fall off is wild. People don’t even remember the amount of clout he had just 10 years ago.”

16. “Katy Perry. It feels like watching someone try to reboot their own relevance with the exact software that crashed it.”

17. “Post Malone. He’s abandoned what got him famous, and people aren’t buying tickets to his overpriced shows anymore.”
18. “Meghan Trainor. Her hits have mostly been novelty songs, but she seems to think she’s still a major pop star. Now she’s in commercials for dryer sheets.”
19. “Madonna. Whoever let Madonna keep reinventing herself without a single person saying, ‘Maybe sit this era out,’ deserves a mention.”

20. “Tom Cruise. He probably has a good movie or two left before it will be tears in between movies.”
