No, this isn’t a fever dream, though it may feel like one. Peppa Pig—the adorable British cartoon pig beloved by many, including Pop Prince Conan Gray—just dropped major Clairo shade in our good year 2026. And it all went down during an interview with Pitchfork to promote her iconic Grammy-snubbed discography, obviously.
While playing the publication’s “Over/Under” game, Peppa struggled to respond when asked about indie darling Clairo, claiming, “I don’t know her.” Okay, Peppa being a true student of pop music with that Mariah Carey/J.Lo reference wasn’t on my bingo card, nor was this entire story. But we move!
Surprisingly, Clairo isn’t the only celebrity to catch Peppa’s smoke over the years. In the past, she’s called out other musicians like Adele and Kanye West. Amid her recent development with the “Sexy to Someone” singer, I figured now might be a good time to relive Peppa’s most iconic celebrity beefs (as I, of course, hope that she and Clairo can eventually work it out on the remix).
Clairo
I guess we’ll start here! Before Peppa threw shade during “Over/Under,” Clairo was actually asked about Peppa when she joined the publication for the game in 2019—talk about a full-circle moment. The Grammy nominee not only claimed Peppa was underrated, but shared that she stood just over 7 feet tall. “I don’t know a taller pig,” Clairo said at the time.
Shortly after Peppa’s interview dropped, Clairo posted a screenshot of a text from Charli xcx, who sent her a social post sharing Peppa’s shade and wrote, “Let’s fuck her up.”
It was all love until Peppa insisted she didn’t know Clairo. Sigh…
Cardi B
Cardi and Peppa’s beef is longstanding, as it dates back to 2020. The rapper shared her frustrations with Peppa when her daughter, Kulture, wouldn’t stop jumping in puddles after she saw Peppa do it. (Sorry, Cardi, she can’t help her impact on culture/Kulture.)
“My baby been watching peppa pig and now Everytime she sees a wetpuddle she wants to stomp on top of it,” Cardi wrote, in part. “That shit gets me so tight ! FuCkin up her uggs……Deum you peppa pig …COUNT YOUR FUCKIN DAYS!”
Peppa didn’t initially respond, but in February 2025, one of Cardi’s fan accounts suggested that their beef had been squashed because of a nicer interaction with a Peppa imposter on TikTok.
However, Cardi dropped a (since-deleted) voice note on social media shortly after Peppa’s mom, Mummy Pig, announced she was expecting another piglet.
“Y’all noticed how bitches were putting fake reports on a fake page that I squashed beef with them?” she said at the time. “Mind you, I never even talked to them, never had a conversation with them. All of a sudden, babies [are] on their way?”
“See how people use my name for publicity stunts? I just want y’all to peep game sometimes,” she added.
Stanley Tucci
The Devil Wears Prada star had a lot to say about Peppa in the press. As you can imagine, some of it was good, and some of it was…not so good. During a lockdown diary feature for The Atlantic during the COVID-19 pandemic, the actor called Peppa an “irritating animated swine”…but also praised the show’s creators for keeping his children entertained and providing him and his wife some relief, even if for a few minutes.
“There is no question that my wife and I, along with many parents, wish the creators of that irritating animated swine a slow death, but they are so rich, they have probably purchased immortality. And yet at the same time, said pig allows us respite for half an hour or so every day. May God bless those creators,” he wrote at the time.
Kanye West
Ye is no stranger when it comes to feuding with other celebs. He’s clashed with Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Drake, and, yes, even Nike, to name a few.
Peppa was added to that list in 2021, when Pitchfork rated Ye’s album, DONDA, a 6.0 and hers a 6.5. In this case, Peppa was the instigator, as she tweeted (and eventually deleted), per High Snobiety, “Peppa didn’t need to host listening parties in Mercedes-Benz Stadium to get that .5.”
Go off, I guess!
Iggy Azalea
As one report put it, it was Iggy vs. the Piggy back in 2019, when the “Black Widow” rapper jokingly reacted to their albums being dropped on the same day.
“It’s over for me now,” Iggy tweeted at the time, per Billboard. Peppa didn’t seem too fazed, though, as she dropped a GIF of her in a princess crown and referenced Iggy’s 2014 hit with Charli xcx: “Peppa’s so fancy, you already know.”
However, Iggy clapped back, writing, “Collab with me now or you’ll end up a breakfast special peppa.” It seems like everyone wants Peppa to hop in the studio these days!
Adele
Well, maybe except for Adele…Before she dropped her megahit, “Easy on Me,” in 2021, the singer jokingly dismissed chatter that she was collaborating with Peppa on her album, 30, during an Instagram Live at the time. It wasn’t long until she was confronted by Peppa herself while promoting the album on CapitalFM.
“Hello Adele, that made me really, really sad when you said you wouldn’t collaborate with me,” Peppa said in a voice note left for Adele. “Why not? Don’t you like me?”
Thankfully, the beef was squashed on the spot, as the “Chasing Pavements” singer admitted she “regretted” dismissing the possibility of a Peppa collab. “Any time you want to jump in muddy puddles and sing in muddy puddles, I’m with you, babes,” she said.
Truly iconic.
