Rare and unreleased Prince vault tracks coming on new compilation ‘Timeless’

Music lovers are sparking up over Guns ‘N’ Roses heading for Adelaide’s park lands Jungle but this weekend global sensation Chappell Roan will beat them to the stage this Valentine’s Day.

The Grammy Hall of Famer Guns N’ Roses will headline the Adelaide Grand Final Sunday concert in November, Premier Peter Malinauskas announced today.

The announcement comes as Midwest Princess Chappell Roan is Adelaide-bound for Laneway music festival this Saturday.

Malinauskas said Guns N’ Roses, led by vocalist Axl Rose and guitarist Slash, would ensure November’s motorsport event “closes on the ultimate high”.

“This is exactly what the bp Adelaide Grand Final does best, combining elite motorsport with iconic world-class live entertainment to create an unforgettable experience for fans,” Malinauskas said.

“We’re thrilled to have secured not only a legendary rock band, but also the Supercars decider through to 2034.”

The ‘Sweet Child of Mine’ rockers last visited Adelaide in 2022 for their ‘We’re F’N Back!’ tour, which marked a return to stadium shows after Covid lockdowns.

The 2025 bp Adelaide Grand Final drew 285,700 motorsport and music fans, including over 102,000 attendees for the Sunday show, headlined by AC/DC.

But Adelaide doesn’t have to wait until Guns N’ Roses bring the November rain for a headliner to hit town, as the Pink Pony Club gallops into Wayville’s showgrounds this Saturday.

Chappell Roan, known for breakout single ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ will headline the indie-music festival Laneway with a 90-minute set this Valentine’s Day on Saturday, February 14.

Chappell spurred a ‘Femininomenon’ with her drag-inspired artistry and bold hooks, taking home the 2025 Grammy for Best New Artist and going viral with her performance of ‘Pink Pony Club’ from her 2023 debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.

The Missouri-raised star – who calls herself your favourite artist’s favourite artist – is joined on the lineup by UK artist PinkPantheress, and English Rock outfits Wolf Alice and the tongue-in-cheek Wet Leg.

American singer-songwriter Role Model will also play Laneway, known for the hit ‘Sally, When The Wine Runs Out’ and viral performances in which he brings out a different guest to dance as ‘Sally’.

Starring as Sally at Sydney’s Laneway stop on Sunday night were members of the Wiggles: Yellow Wiggle Tsehay Hawkins, Blue Wiggle Lucia Field and original purple Wiggle Jeff Fatt.

This week marks the Festival season cranking up, with Laneway soon to be followed by Adelaide Festival’s opening night concert starring Britpop band Pulp on Friday, February 27.

Pulp’s large-scale performance at Elder Park will be free and promises tracks from the new album More – the band’s first album in 24 years – plus crowd-pleasers such as ‘Common People’ and ‘Disco 2000’.

The opening concert will go ahead despite a near-miss for the Adelaide Festival, with Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker confirming in January that the band would have pulled out if a controversial decision to deprogram Palestinian-Australian author Randa Abdel-Fattah from a festival event was not rectified.

Abdel-Fattah was removed from the Adelaide Festival’s Adelaide Writers’ Week program on January 8, after Premier Peter Malinauskas told the board he did not support her inclusion.

The board’s controversial call sparked board members’ resignations, an author boycott and the eventual cancellation of Writers’ Week.

Abdel-Fattah was eventually issued an apology from the new board and invited to Writers’ Week 2027, believed to be influenced by the starpower of Pulp and other artists.

Had the Festival not apologised to the author, Cocker said the band would have cancelled its free performance on the opening night of Adelaide Festival.

Cocker shared a picture of Abdel-Fattah on social media, saying: “Dr Randa is happy with that apology. We are happy that the situation has been dealt with and are now prepared to perform at the music festival once more.”

“This will be a free concert, open to anyone who respects the freedom of all voices to be heard,” Cocker said.
