Jeffrey Epstein was reportedly told to stay away from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor after he was released from prison, new documents have shown. The late convicted paedophile was jailed in 2008 for child sex offences, and was released after just 13 months.
On his release from prison, Epstein was told by advisors to avoid Andrew, formerly known as Prince Andrew. He was given this advice by PR firm Osborne & Partners in a 2011 plan called ‘Issues of Reputation’, as shown in newly released documents.
It is believed he was asked to avoid Andrew as their friendship had resulted in negative press in the UK for Epstein, especially as The Mail on Sunday had published Virginia Giuffre’s claims that Andrew had slept with her three times when she was just 17 – claims Andrew has always strongly denied.
The PR firm had cited the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday coverage of Andrew in the 2011 plan, with the memo saying “….it is disastrous for you to be seen in any way to facilitate his lifestyle, or to help with his well documented issues.
“Their (the UK press) sole interest in you and Ghislaine (Maxwell) is as a means to attack Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
“You need to studiously avoid any involvement whatsoever with the couple, which will lessen the interest and we can establish a constructive relationship on your behalf with them.”
The Daily Mail reports this week that the PR firm also told Epstein that another “urgent priority” was for the results on him on major search engines to be changed.
The PR firm reportedly told Epstein in the plan: “Today, when anyone types in your name, a majority of the first few pages of the results are references to the charges, to paedophilia, to Prince Andrew, to unflattering stories – many of which link back to the Mail websites.
“We have hired an excellent team of Israeli experts for other clients, and there are many firms that claim to be able to optimise results this way but fail to deliver. I cannot overstate the importance of this, because it is the initial source of information on you for many people.”
Details of this 2011 PR plan for Epstein were released in the US this week.
It is not the first document to involve Andrew, who has recently been stripped by King Charles of his royal titles and his Royal Lodge home as a result of his previous associations with Epstein.
Andrew has always denied any accusations against him.
