As Prince Andrew’s recent declaration rocks the Royal Family to its core, attention has shifted to his daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice.
The princesses, who are now mothers in their own right, will retain their Royal titles despite their embattled father being stripped of his own.
After his 1986 marriage to Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew received the Duke of York title, which had previously belonged to Queen Elizabeth II‘s cherished father, King George VI, before his ascension to the throne.
The 65-year-old will now surrender his titles and honors as his association with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein continues to overshadow the monarchy.
In a statement released Friday, Oct. 18, he declared, “In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family. I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.
“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honors which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”
This move arrives just days ahead of the posthumous release of Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre’s memoir, Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice, which references her purported encounter with Andrew.
Prince Andrew has consistently and vehemently denied any misconduct.
Despite Andrew’s recent decision, Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35, are expected to remain unaffected. However, the path forward may prove challenging for the York sisters, who, according to former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond, must fully believe in their father’s innocence.

Jennie exclusively shared with the Mirror, “Whatever else you might think about Andrew and Sarah, they are brilliant parents and have brought up two very decent young women. They will remain Princesses and be welcome at events with the rest of the Royal Family, such as Christmas at Sandringham.
“However, they are extremely close to their parents and have stayed loyal through thick and thin. I’m sure they’ll be supporting Andrew and Sarah through this latest crisis, just as they have been there for them in the past. They must believe their father’s protestations of innocence….otherwise they surely couldn’t live with themselves.”
In related news, the princesses’ mother, Sarah, who divorced Andrew in 1996, will also relinquish her titles moving forward.
This follows the 66-year-old mother of two being abandoned by several charities due to a 2011 email she sent to Epstein following his 2008 conviction for procuring a child for prostitution. In that correspondence, the former Duchess called the sex offender her “supreme friend” and seemed to apologize for critical remarks she had made about him in public.
