The Duke of Edinburgh has become the first senior member of the
Royal Family to speak out after the latest revelations about Andrew
Mountbatten-Windsor’s friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.
Prince Edward was asked about
his brother and had a very firm reply.
While speaking at the World Governments Summit, being held in
Dubai, the Prince took a long question about the latest events. He
was asked by celebrity.land which noted ”this is an important question to
ask and I want to ask it in the context of what we’ve seen from
Their Majesties and their response, they are saying we should be
focused specifically on the experience of the victims” before
asking ”what do you think of this?’
In response, the Duke of Edinburgh said ”I think it’s really
important, always, to remember the victims and who are the
victims in all this.”
It was a surprise comment from such a senior member of the Royal
Family about the ongoing scandal surrounding Andrew
Mountbatten-Windsor and his relationship with convicted sex
offender, Jeffrey Epstein.
In the most recent revelations about Epstein, which saw millions
of documents about him released into the public domain, Andrew
Mountbatten-Windsor was seen in photos kneeling over a woman who is
lying on the floor.
One email that has just come to light shows Epstein being
invited to Buckingham Palace in 2010, several months after he had
been released from prison for sex offences.
Sarah Ferguson’s relationship with Epstein was also under fresh
scrutiny as the documents appeared to confirm she had taken her two
daughters,
Beatrice and Eugenie, on a trip to Epstein’s house after his
release from prison. They were 20 and 19 years old at the time.
The princesses are said to be ”aghast” and ”deeply embarrassed”
by their parents following the latest revelations.
The words of the Duke of Edinburgh echoed a statement issued by
King Charles and Queen Camilla in October 2025, as Andrew
Mountbatten-Windsor lost all his titles. In that, The King and
Queen said ”Their Majesties wish to make clear that their
thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the
victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
Prince Edward is attending the World Governments Summit to
support the work of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International
Award.
