Prince Harry has revealed that his father, King Charles III, will be his “focus” following their recent UK reunion.
In early September, Harry returned to the United Kingdom to hold crisis talks with his dad and see if their broken relationship could be mended, following Harry’s exit from the British Royal Family.
However, following their reunion, tensions seem to have been eased as Harry said he wants to “focus” on his relationship with his dad, and even bring his children over to visit.
Speaking to The Guardian, Harry said, “The focus really has to be on my dad.” When asked about wanting to spend more time with his children in Britain, he also added, “Yes, I would. This week has definitely brought that closer.”
Harry left the UK in June 2020, moving to California, his wife, Meghan Markle‘s, home state. This move came mere months after the pair announced they’d be stepping down as royals, in what the British tabloids called “Megxit.”
Since they have lived in the US, they have both slammed the Royal Family in bombshell interviews, with Harry even releasing a book called “Spare” about his upbringing. It was said to be a combination of these factors that led to the breakdown of the relationships with his father and brother, Prince William.
Recently, Us Weekly revealed that the reunion, which took place at Clarence House on Wednesday, was sparked by a handwritten letter from Harry to Charles expressing his desire to reconnect.
According to Sky News, the pair spoke for around 54 minutes before Harry left to attend an event. A source who spoke to Us about the reunion claimed that Harry and Charles’ chat included “catching up personally about the children and what has been going on with Charles and his health.” It was also reported that the discussion led to “hugs and tears.”
The reunion comes months after Harry revealed that he wanted to reconcile with his father. In May, he told the BBC that he “would love reconciliation with my family,” adding, “I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
However, it appears Harry’s potential return to the UK won’t be permanent, as he expressed to The Guardian how much he loved living in the States.
“I think parts of the British press want to believe that I am miserable, but I’m not. I am very happy with who I am, and I like the life that I live,” he said.
