They’re also expected to attend other engagements relating to their passions and patronages. It will mark the first time the Sussex couple returns to Harry’s home country in four years. They are expected to bring their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
But a royal author gave a brutal verdict about their return, saying it can be summarised into two words: “desperation” and “failure”.
Author Tom Bower spoke to Tom Sykes’s The Royalist podcast and blasted the couple for returning to the institution they publicly “shunned” six years ago.
Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior working royals in early 2020 to pursue a financially independent life outside the Royal Family. Since then, they have embarked on several business ventures.
Mr Bower said: “I think you can summarise it [the Sussex return] in two words: desperation and failure,” he told Tom Sykes on The Royalist podcast. “They’ve run out of ideas, and their finances are basically in jeopardy.”
“And Meghan is someone who is desperate for fame. She’s desperate for recognition. She is desperate for money, of course, and status. And it just seems to her that a visit to the Royal Family in Britain would restore to her the credibility she once had.”
The author said a return to Britain will be “worse” for Harry, as he is allegedly “isolated” in California, where he lives with his family.
Mr Bower said that the Duke “misses his roots” and wants to “worm his way back” into the good books of not only the royals but of the British public.
He said: “We’re seeing them effectively crawl on bended knees back to Britain, and they are to be pathetically grateful if the king agrees.”
It has not been confirmed if the King will meet his American grandchildren.
However, reports have previously claimed that the monarch is upset over his estranged relationship with Archie and Lilibet.
