Prince Harry and Prince William may reconcile in the near future, according to a close confidant of the royals.
The brothers have been estranged since the Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down from their senior royal duties and released a tell-all interview in 2020 about mistreatment from the British Royal family.
Alex Rayner, who has remained close with Prince Harry since 2012, told the Daily Mail, “As soon as the opportunity presents itself, we’ll see a wonderful embrace between the two brothers. Absolutely.
“I would hope [it will take place in the next few months]. Certainly, if not by the end of the year, then next. They’ll hug in the not-too-distant future.”
Earlier this month, Harry reunited with his father, King Charles III, for the first time in over 19 months. The two enjoyed an hour-long meeting for “private tea” at Clarence House, the monarch’s residence.
The Duke of Sussex’s solo trip to visit the UK, without Meghan and their children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, marked a huge step in the right direction for reconciliation between the royals. In 2023, Harry released his memoir, “Spare,” which put a strain on his relationship with King Charles, 76. Still, Rayner insists their bond is “indestructible.”
“A rift between father and son is never that big. A father’s love for his son is pretty indestructible,” he added.
After the successful trip back home, Harry, who lives in California with his family, told The Guardian newspaper, “Yes, I have enjoyed the week.”
“I have always loved the UK and I always will love the UK. It’s been good to reconnect with the causes I am passionate about. I have been able to spend some time with people that I have known for so long. It is hard to do it from far away.”
