Prince Harry has criticised the Royal Family’s treatment of Prince Andrew, calling it unfair compared to how he and Meghan Markle were stripped of security and royal roles.
In his memoir Spare, Harry said it was “hypocritical” that Andrew kept royal protections for years despite facing sexual abuse allegations linked to Jeffrey Epstein, while he and Meghan lost theirs after stepping back in 2020.
When Andrew’s US civil case with Virginia Giuffre was approved in 2022, Queen Elizabeth II removed his titles but reportedly funded his private security – a practice King Charles later ended.
Harry has since fought a legal battle to reinstate his police protection in the UK, arguing private guards can’t access government intelligence. Despite losing the case, he insists the security risk to his family remains high.
Mark Dolan speaks with royal biographer, Angela Levin.
