Prince Harry has contributed £1.1million to BBC Children in Need to back grassroots organizations assisting young people affected by violence. The substantial personal contribution, equivalent to approximately $1.5million, will deliver essential funding to generate opportunities, foster potential and assist young people in building brighter futures.

Harry revealed the sum during a visit to Community Recording Studio (CRS) in Nottingham, on the second day of his four-day return to the UK. This represents his most extended stay on home soil since the passing of his cherished grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022 and the Duke maintains a packed schedule of commitments with causes and charities he has remained connected to since stepping down as a senior working Royal five years ago.

Sources indicate he is “in a good headspace” and is enthusiastic to be back in the UK pursuing what he loves, and continues hoping that the King will find time in his schedule for the pair to meet when he returns to London tomorrow for his routine cancer treatment and audience with the Prime Minister. The report comes as Queen Elizabeth’s true feelings about Trump’s protocol breach revealed.

Nottingham was a city Harry frequented regularly when he was a working royal, and he has collaborated closely with organizations empowering young people impacted by violence to flourish.

During the visit, the Duke met with Trevor Rose from the Community Recording Studio and Pete Bewley from Epic Partners, two organizations creating a genuine impact in Nottingham. Prince Harry, who first connected with two youth organizations in Nottingham through his work with The Royal Foundation in 2014, returned to the city today, reports the Express.

He met with young individuals whose lives have been positively impacted by these groups. The Prince also participated in a recording session and later joined an audience to watch musical and comedy performances from various young people supported by CRS.

CRS, the venue for today’s visit, holds a special connection for Harry. His last visit was in October 2019, just two months before he and Meghan Markle announced their decision to step down as senior working royals and relocate to North America.

Nottingham is also significant as it was here that Meghan completed her ‘inauguration’ into the Royal family. This marked her first official joint Royal appearance with Harry, just days after their engagement was announced.

During the three-hour engagement, Harry also took part in a roundtable discussion with local changemakers, including representatives from BBC Children in Need and Nottingham’s Police and Crime Commissioner. They discussed the current challenges facing young people in communities affected by violence and potential solutions to these issues.

The Duke of Sussex expressed: “The incredible work being done by grassroots organizations like CRS and Epic Partners is not only inspiring – it’s essential. We’re grateful for the support of BBC Children in Need in helping changemakers in the city continue their mission to create safe spaces, build trust, and offer hope and belonging to young people who need it most.”
