While the meeting between Charles and Harry was brief, as Charles returned to London from Scotland for his ongoing cancer treatment, it’s not known whether any headway was made between the pair or whether any future meetings have been planned. The father and son last met in February 2024, after Harry made a hurried trip to the UK to see his father after the King’s cancer diagnosis was made public.

It’s also thought the recent meeting today was brought on after Harry’s admission in May that he wanted to try and heal his relationship with the royal family. He told the BBC in a candid interview, “I would love a reconciliation with my family.”

He also said at the time that his father would not speak to him because of his court battle over his security and that he did not know “how much longer my father has.”

Prince Harry has been in London since September 8 for various charity events, including an appearance at the Centre for Blast Injury Studies in White City, west London. While Harry has been all smiles on the surface as he made several appearances at charitable events and causes, it’s thought one of the biggest reasons for his visit to the UK was to see his father.

Relations between the King and his youngest son deteriorated significantly after the Sussexes stepped down as senior royals and launched a series of public criticisms against the Royal Family. But now that his legal challenge against the Home Office has concluded, Harry is eager to mend fences.

However, it might be easier said than done, as since stepping down from royal duties in 2020, Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have not held back in their comments about the royal family. From their 2021 Netflix documentary series to Harry’s memoir in 2023, the pair have been vocal about the alleged racist comments to Meghan Markle and treatment within Palace circles.

Behind closed doors, the Monarch and aides have felt “let down” over “what were seen as very personal slurs against him, Camilla, William, and Katherine” on Netflix and in Oprah Winfrey’s TV special. A source within Charles’ friendship circle admits that “there is much uncertainty about what Harry may say about his family in future.”
