They include badges from across the Ukrainian military, such as the 101st Guard Brigade of the General Staff, tasked with the defence of the capital Kyiv, and the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade Azov.
The 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, one of Ukraine’s most prominent units, has played a key role in the defence of Kyiv and the surrounding region, airlift operations to Mariupol, and major battles including Kherson, Bakhmut and Avdiivka, as well as more recent fighting in Kharkiv and Luhansk oblasts.
A Ukrainian National Guard “Rubizh” Brigade badge was also visible in the background of the Duchess’s video, a detail of particular significance for the Prince. During the February 2025 Invictus Games, he wore the Brigade’s patch on his jacket.
Prince Harry has maintained visible ties with Ukraine since the start of the war, largely through his work with wounded service members.
In April last year, he made a surprise visit to the western city of Lviv, where he met injured Ukrainian veterans and civilians at the Superhumans rehabilitation centre.
During a visit to Kyiv in September, he said he would do “everything possible” to support Ukrainian soldiers and wounded service personnel.
