Prince Harry might dream of a full royal family reunion after reuniting with King Charles, but a source has suggested it won’t be happening in time for Christmas.
The Duke of Sussex surprised fans as he reunited with the King during his recent trip to the U.K. The pair spent almost an hour together in what was their first meeting in 19 months.
The reconciliation has been seen by many as the first step towards a full royal reunion, but one source said Harry still needs to prove himself before he meets with other members of the royal family. The comments come after a royal expert suggested the royals will find it difficult to forgive Harry.
“It’s not the case that Harry is going to be welcomed back with open arms and certainly not in time for Christmas,” a source close to the royal family told Vanity Fair.
They continued, “As far as the king is concerned, the door has always been left open for Harry, but Harry has to pass the trust test. If he does, then I think there could well be another meeting in the new year.”
Harry and William haven’t spoken in years, with the Prince of Wales said to be upset with how Harry and Meghan announced they were leaving the royal family.
Tensions worsened following the release of Harry’s bombshell memoir, Spare, and his Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan.
