Just hours later, the duke then took to the stage at the Kyiv Security Conference, where he spoke about the ongoing war in Ukraine. In his speech, Harry made a direct address to Putin, emphasising why conflict was not the right option to solving conflict.
He also called upon America, the country he has called home for the last six years, to play a role in bringing the conflict to an end.
Harry said: “The United States has a singular role in this story.
“Not only because of its power, but because when Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons, America was part of the assurance that Ukraine’s sovereignty and borders would be respected.
“This is a moment for American leadership, a moment for America to show that it can honour its international treaty obligations – not out of charity, but out of its enduring role in global security and strategic stability.”
He did not mention Donald Trump by name when talking about American leadership.
Their Majesties visit will be held between 27 and 30 April 2026.
The Palace said the aim of the visit is to “celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence”.
