“Planning a trip like the Ukraine one is very Harry, if I’m perfectly honest,” the expert said. “The visit in itself is strong; no one’s questioning that. But the timing just muddies it. Dropping that interview and leaning into ‘I’m still part of the Royal Family’ right before King Charles heads off on such a big US state visit was always going to pull focus. Whether he meant to or not, it turns what should be a clear diplomatic moment into another round of the Harry vs the Palace narrative. It very much comes across as he’s stolen the spotlight, even if that wasn’t the plan,” Teixeira, who is the Founder and CEO of Chad Teixeira Media, said.
Remarking on this, Teixeira continued: “The bigger issue here is that his relationship with the family is still rocky, and everyone knows it. That context doesn’t go away, and he isn’t doing anything to try and heal the ‘royal rift’ he has said he wants to reconcile. When Prince Harry steps forward like this, especially when talking about his royal ties; it just reopens everything.
“You’ve got a monarchy trying to show unity on the world stage, and Harry pulls it straight back to family drama. It’s the same pattern, big gesture, messy fallout,” Chad observed.
Reflecting further on the situation, Chad added: “There’s still that identity problem here with Harry. He’s out [of the Royal Family] but not fully out. He wants the freedom, but still reaches for the royal label when it adds weight, and he can use it to his own advantage.
“That’s where people start to switch off from him and he’s losing favour, because it feels inconsistent. You can’t rewrite the rules every time you step into the spotlight, and that’s how it’s landing and it doesn’t look good for him,” he said.
“From a PR point of view, this is all about timing, and he’s just got it wrong. It lands like a distraction, not a contribution and it hands critics an easy line of ‘Harry talks about service, but keeps making it about himself’.
“The relationship with the Royal Family still feels unresolved here, and every time he pops up like this, it proves it.
“Until he picks a lane and sticks to it, these moments will keep backfiring and he’s going to keep looking like he’s trying to pull the spotlight onto himself and trying to overshadow.”
