Another royal wedding is on the horizon, as Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, gears up to marry Harriet Sperling. Although many members of the royal family are expected to attend, some notable names have been left off the guest list—including Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.
“It’s a royal snub; it’s the royal wedding of the year, and it is Princess Anne’s son, Peter … and the bottom line is that Harry has not been invited,” TalkTV host Mark Dolan revealed on Sky News.
He also claimed Harry’s “been banned from the event” because Peter “doesn’t want Harry to take the headlines. Additionally, palace officials reportedly believe Harry and Meghan are “toxic” and “would ruin the special day.”
The exclusion has reportedly left Harry feeling both “humiliated” and “heartbroken.”
“Being frozen out of Peter Phillips’ wedding has delivered one of the deepest blows yet to Harry,” a source told Closer. “Growing up, he adored Peter. He always saw him as one of the more grounded, trustworthy members of the family.”
The source said that Harry “genuinely didn’t believe it would come to this,” adding that he “feels deeply hurt and humiliated.”
“But the sentiment within the family – particularly William – became that the day needed to stay very much focused on Peter and Harriet. Nobody wanted headlines dominated by speculation about Harry, Meghan and family tensions,” the insider continued. “Harry absolutely feels he was frozen out, and privately, he blames his father for allowing it to happen. Harry’s made far more effort behind the scenes than people realise, that’s why this feels like such a slap in the face to him.”
Insiders also claimed that Prince William is relieved that his younger brother isn’t welcome at Peter’s wedding.
“For William it’s a relief – he sees it as confirmation that the Sussexes are not simply going to drift back into the fold,” an insider explained to the outlet.
They noted that trust is still a “huge issue” for William, and he “feels there has to be a line” right now. Meanwhile, Kate would love to see “William and Harry to build bridges and reconcile in some way. She feels William is pushing Harry too far now and the last thing she wants is more drama or emotional upheaval.”
