According to royal editor Russell Myers, Prince Harry‘s legal battle against the British press may get in the way of making amends with King Charles III. “Only when there is a diminished sense of an agenda from the Duke [Harry] and an appetite to engage on terms other than his own, will his family — who are all still dutifully engaged in their royal roles — make it possible to take him seriously,” the expert wrote for The Mirror.

Prince Harry returned to London to appear in the High Court alongside other celebrities who sued U.K. tabloids for alleged unlawful information gathering. However, a family visit was not on his agenda during his trip. “King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton have chosen to arrange engagements 500 miles away in Scotland this week while Harry is engaged in his latest legal battle,” Russell Myers wrote. “If Harry does indeed want to reconnect with his loved ones, then frankly speaking, it’s not rocket science.”

While Prince Harry battles the press, he’s also waiting for the British government’s verdict on his tax-funded security detail — another situation King Charles III reportedly isn’t thrilled about. “[Harry should] have a renewed focus away from the dramas of expensive and controversial litigation and refusing to accept the decision of His Majesty’s government, and decide to concentrate on trying to repair the damage done since he decided to up and leave the rest of them behind,” Russell Myers wrote.

If Prince Harry continues to be embroiled in drama, his relatives will likely keep their distance. “Harry’s calls for reconciliation with his family after years of taking aim at them for perceived mistreatment and lack of support will, unfortunately for him, go unanswered while he continues to be engaged in such matters,” Russell Myers wrote.

According to royal commentator Mark Dolan, both King Charles III and Prince William were especially enraged by Prince Harry‘s decision to go after the media because of their civic roles. “It’s a shocking move,” he said on “The Daily Expresso” podcast. “King Charles is, to my understanding, furious about this. The royals do not sue newspapers.”
