Prince Harry reportedly delivered a sharp retort when questioned about why he and Meghan Markle persist in using their Royal titles despite stepping back from senior working Royal duties in 2020. During a prior conversation with Anderson Cooper, the 41-year-old faced scrutiny over the couple’s continued use of their ‘Duke’ and ‘Duchess’ designations.

In the discussion, which occurred while he was publicizing his explosive memoir Spare in early 2023, Harry was challenged about their ongoing use of the titles, prompting his curt reply, “And what difference would that make?”

Cooper pressed further, “One of the criticisms that you’ve received is that okay, fine, you want to move to California, you want to step back from the institutional role. Why be so public? Why reveal conversations you’ve had with your father or with your brother? You say you tried to do this privately.”

Harry then shot back decisively, “And every single time I’ve tried to do it privately there have been briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife.

“You know, the family motto is ‘never complain, never explain’. But it’s just a motto. And it doesn’t really hold,” reports the Express.

Despite withdrawing from official responsibilities in 2020, Harry continues to hold fifth position in the Royal line of succession. His two children – Prince Archie, 6, and four-year-old Princess Lilibet – also maintain their positions as sixth and seventh in the succession order.

Harry relinquished his military titles after stepping back from his role as a senior working Royal.

In a recent interview, Meghan Markle disclosed her “real name” while discussing the Sussex title.

Meghan stated, “When I got married, I changed my name. It’s a complicated one for people to understand because a last name is not typical in that construct.”

She further explained, “My legal name is Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, but Sussex for us works as our family name. It’s the name that we share with our children, but yes since we’ve been married, that’s what I’ve been called.”
