Judging by the look on his face, Prince Louis thinks it’s pretty great to be 8!
Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, honored their youngest son, Prince Louis, by sharing a new photo of him celebrating his 8th birthday.
“Happy birthday, Louis! 8 today! 🎈” they wrote on their official Instagram account.
When Prince Louis turned 7, the family shared a photo of him sitting down while he wears a pair of jeans and a dark green sweater with a button-down shirt underneath it. His hair is parted to his left, while he smiles directly into the camera, exposing several missing top teeth.
This year’s image is much more casual. Louis is standing up near the water in a blue quarter-zip with his arms casually crossed at his chest. With his windblown hair, Louis looks as though he’s squinting into the sun, and his broad smile shows off his newly grown-in adult teeth. The official Instagram page credits Matt Porteous for photography.
The Wales’ official Instagram page also posted a sweet video of Louis running around outdoors. He digs in the sand, plays cricket, jumps into the water in a wetsuit and races toward the camera in the sand.
Louis has delighted people around the world with his impish antics and expressions. He made some funny faces in June 2023 during the annual “Trooping the Colour” parade outside Buckingham Palace, almost a repeat of his actions from 2023 at King Charles III’s coronation ceremony in May of the same year.
Regardless of the occasion — even a Christmas carol church service — Louis always seems to be wearing a grin.
And commenters on Instagram also seem to notice a strong family resemblance to his older brother.
“For a moment I thought it was George!! 😍” one person wrote, and someone else replied, “The more they grow, the more they look alike. 😍”
