BAFTA is incomplete without a royal presence! William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales, stepped out in London to attend the BAFTA Film Awards on Sunday night. Their appearance comes as the royal family is going through a challenging time amid former Prince Andrew’s arrest and his alleged connection in the Jeffrey Epstein files.
After the gap of three years, Kate has attended the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards ceremony, often called the British version of the Oscars. She skipped the event due to her cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Prince William and Kate Middleton step out amid Andrew controversy
Prince William and Kate Middleton looked perfect as they walked the red carpet. For British cinema’s biggest night, the royals were dressed to the nines. Prince William wore a burgundy velvet jacket with a black tie. Meanwhile, Catherine looked radiant in a floor-length pink and purple Gucci dress. She kept her makeup simple and hair open with soft curls. This is the same blush pink full-length pink dress that she wore at a gala dinner at the Victoria and Albert Museum. She accessorised her dress with a burgundy velvet clutch bag, which was matching to the waistline belt of her dress.

This year’s appearance of William and Kate came as a total surprise, as it was highly unlikely that they would attend the star-studded ceremony on Sunday night due to former Prince Andrew’s arrest over misconduct in public office.
The couple were absent from last year’s ceremony. In 2024 William, who is the president of BAFTA, arrived at the event solo. Kate last attended in 2023 when she stepped out wearing a white Alexander McQueen gown.
Chatting at the award ceremony, the Prince revealed that he had not watched the BAFTA Best Picture nominee Hamnet because he “needed to be in a calm mood”
“I need to be in quite a calm state and I am not at the moment. I will save it,” he said, as per Hello.
During the ceremony, William presented the BAFTA Fellowship Award to Dame Donna Langley, Chair of NBCUniversal Entertainment.
