Disappointment has fallen on the house of Wales, as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding invites have gone out, and Prince William and Princess Catherine reportedly did not make the cut.
Per a new People report, the royals will not be attending the long awaited nuptials (which will allegedly take place over July 4th weekend, either in New York City or Rhode Island). The outlet did not give a reason.
If the note, in fact, did not make its way to Forest Lodge in Windsor, it must’ve come as a surprise to the future king, as just a few weeks ago, Wills candidly revealed that he was expecting an invite to the pop superstar’s wedding. He said on the Heart Breakfast podcast when asked about the ceremony: “No comment. I’m hoping and I’m sure there might be an invitation around, but we’ll see.”
The prince is a lifelong Swiftie, and the fandom runs in the family. He added during the podcast chat: “Charlotte, my daughter, and Louis, to be fair, Charlotte, particularly, is obsessed by Taylor Swift. We went to see her on her Eras Tour and it was amazing.”
The prince and the “Love Story” singer go way back. In 2013, Wills joined the 14-time Grammy winner and rock legend Jon Bon Jovi to sing “Livin’ on a Prayer” at a charity gala at Kensington Palace. And in 2024, the heir to the British throne took his two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, to one of Swift’s Eras Tour shows in London. He later shared selfies of them together (including one with Kelce) on his and Kate’s official Instagram.
Swift also shared a photo of the meetup on her own Instagram, marking William’s birthday. “Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start,” she wrote, tagging William and Kate’s handle.
And after all that, the prince won’t get to see his favorite pop princess get married? Sorry, Wills.
