The five-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom ground-entry abode was originally designed by Stanford White in 1893. Today, the property combines centuries-old design elements with modern 21st-century amenities.
Upon entry, guests find a “wood-paneled vestibule with pristine tilework,” according to the listing, held by Colin Montgomery of Sotheby’s International Realty. From there, a 19-foot living salon flows into a large eat-in kitchen with a powder room. Restored hardwood and “wavy-glass” cabinetry surrounds the space.

A parlor floor spreads over 50 feet of linear space connecting a formal dining and living room. Ornate features like pocket doors, decorative fireplaces and a Juliet balcony enhance the space. A central gallery features a built-in bench that anchors the floor. The butler’s pantry comes complete with a wet bar and connects to the dining room, gallery and kitchen via a back staircase.

The third floor has two oversized “co-primary” bedrooms that share a fully renovated bath with custom marble, radiant floors and a walk-in shower. The top floor has another three bedrooms with a bathroom that features both a soaking tub and glass-enclosed shower.
A 2018 renovation introduced zoned central HVAC, radiant-heat floors in the bathrooms, the rebuilt rear deck and an automatic garage door system to the private garage in the Striver’s Row alleyway.
“It’s a beautifully preserved Strivers’ Row townhouse, about as close to its original 1890s interior as you’ll find in the neighborhood,” Montgomery said in a statement shared with PEOPLE. “We had strong interest throughout, and the right buyer was someone who wanted to live in the house, not change it.”

Stanley Montfort of Serhant represented the buyers. Although he declined to identify his clients, he told the Journal “they are empty nesters relocating from the suburbs.”
