“One former courtier said that all talk of ‘the other side’ was effectively banned after the brothers honoured a previous agreement to come together at Kensington Palace to unveil a statue of their mother on 1 July, on what would have been her 60th birthday.”

Mr Myers writes: “William and Catherine were fearful not only of the effect on team morale, but also their capacity to work with Harry and Meghan moving forward.”
“A source claimed: ‘In one camp you had the people who cared, wanted those working in the household to enjoy themselves while working there, and on the other side it was something different every day. Nothing was ever good enough, there were constant complaints. It was exhausting.’”
The author claims that, according to sources, William tried to help his brother but, despite his efforts, felt he had “lost” him.
