There seems to be something in the air, with both Princess Kate and Prince William, as both the Duke and Duchess of Wales, have started speaking candidly about their private lives.
First, it was Kate at a royal engagement on Thursday, saying her children were disappointed to miss out on the visit to the Royal Air Force, and now it’s William, sharing his inner thoughts while giving actor Eugene Levy a tour of Windsor Castle.
William has stepped into the role of TV star, appearing in the third season of The Reluctant Traveler with the entire fourth episode dedicated to Levy’s royal visit, which premiered on October 3, over at Apple TV, the%20Express.”>reports Daily Express UK.
The confessions of the future king can be captured in the 42-minute-long episode entitled, Living the Royal Life in the UK. The Apple TV description reads: “Windsor Castle opens its gates to Eugene, who’s given the tour of his life by none other than the Prince of Wales.”
In addition to opening up the gates to Levy, William opened up his heart, sharing with the Canadian actor with what’s been going on with him, his wife, and royal life. Following the tour of Windsor Castle, William took the actor for a quick drink at a local pub, where the two sat down for a heart-to-heart.
The Daily Express U.S. checked in with body language expert Judi James to ask about what she’s seeing from both the royal and Levy. Discussing how “great” it is now that she is in remission, William also touched on how Kate’s battle with cancer last year affected their family, visibly moved as he spoke about this, which James describes as “unbearably sad to watch,” particularly given his usual restraint in showing personal emotions publicly.
“Unlike his brother, Prince William has clearly inherited the stoic gene that he talks about when referring to his ‘stoic & resilient’ royal relatives,” said James. “He impersonalizes these rather tragic references by generalizing verbally, referring to how ‘you’ cope rather than focusing on himself.”

James goes into more detail, describing the scene and what it means in terms of the emotional state of the future king. “His eyes look down a lot to protect and shield his inner feelings but when he does look up they are pink and watery, showing a hint of tears that he is clearly at pains to suppress,” James noted.
“There is a wry smile of fondness as he mentions his grandparents and how long they lived, but we can see the furrows of concern etched between his brows,” she added.
It appears William uses his hands to help with his storytelling, which James noticed and expanded on. “He mimes the rug being ‘pulled from under your feet’ in what looks like an act of distraction because it’s here that the emotions threaten to overwhelm him,” she said.
“He strives to be seen as positive, tapping his index finger onto the side of his forehead but the gesture becomes a self-comfort scratching,” James adds. “As he says you think it ‘won’t happen to you’ his voice chokes a little and he scratches at his beard in another self-comfort ritual before he clears his throat in a bid to carry on.”
According to James, it’s sad to watch because it’s unlike William to share his emotions in public. “William is not a man given to over-sharing his emotions in public and it’s possibly this that makes this moment so unbearably sad to watch,”
“He shows vulnerability but without acting vulnerable and instead trying to focus on the positives but in the end it’s the powerful emotions that win here,” she finishes.
