One of Queen Elizabeth II’s closest family members has made a rare public appearance and it’s been warmly welcomed.
Princess Alexandra of Kent, the late Queen’s cousin, saw her grandson, Alexander Ogilvy, graduate from the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst.
The 28 year old’s father is James Ogilvy, the son of Princess Alexandra and Sir Angus Ogilvy.
Before attending the Royal Military Academy for a 44 week training programme, Alexander Ogilvy attended Brown University in the US where he double majored in Economics and Computer Science.
His parents, James and Julia, and his elder sister, Flora Vesterberg, were on hand to enjoy the Sovereign’s Parade at Sandhurst, along with Princess Alexandra. The ceremony happens three times a year; it celebrates the Officer Cadets finishing their training and being commissioned into the British Army.
Princess Alexandra, 88, wore a bright paisley coat and beige wide-brimmed hat for the celebrations, while Flora Vesterberg wore a fashionable floral dress and cocktail hat in blue. Flora has a healthy Instagram following.
Alexander Ogilvy is not the first member of the Royal Family to train at Sandhurst. Both the Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex attended the Royal Military Academy, as did the Duke of Kent and Prince Michael of Kent.
Several foreign royals have also attended the prestigious training base.
