Catherine looked every inch the future Queen in a cream ensemble by Ralph Lauren. But despite the warm weather, she opted for a pair of nude tights in accordance with one of Queen Elizabeth’s rules. The late Queen preferred it when royal ladies wore tights under their dresses and skirts, even when the tights were of a lighter colour.
Royal expert Victoria Arbiter previously said: “I would say that’s really the only hard, steadfast rule in terms of what the Queen requires.”
It appears that Catherine, four years after Elizabeth’s death in 2022, has chosen to carry on the tradition.
Royal fans took notice and took to social media to comment on Catherine’s sartorial choice.
One user noted on X: “I had thought that the Princess of Wales had mostly retired wearing tights after Queen Elizabeth’s death, but that appears not to be the case!”
Another one said: “Wearing tights adds an elegance to most ensembles that must not be done away with. It speaks of elegance and, dare I say it, class.”

A third one chimed: “She’s a Lady. Tights will never go out of style.”
A fourth one commented: “I think she always wears stockings. They are just so fine and of such good quality as to be indetectible.”
A fifth one added: “She is an elegant lady and tights are just that.”
