On Tuesday, June 2, The Princess Royal will visit 13 Air Assault Support Regiment Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) at Roman Camp in the Merville Barracks, where the regiment is based.
Her visit is in her capacity as Colonel-in-Chief of the RLC.
The regiment provides second-line logistic support to the British Army’s 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team, supplying equipment including ammunition, fuel, rations and spare parts.
It has supported operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and took part in the 2021 Kabul evacuation, known as Operation Pitting.
Princess Anne is known for her engagement with front-line and specialist Army units.
Her visits typically include presentations on recent deployments, equipment demonstrations and the opportunity to meet soldiers and their families.
Her presence in Colchester will underline the town’s continued importance as a garrison and its role in supporting the Army’s expeditionary operations.
It will also highlight the essential role of logistics in modern military operations.
