Priscilla Presley Breaks Silence On Feelings About Marriage Of Late Daughter And Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson might have won the hearts of millions worldwide, but winning Priscilla Presley‘s heart was one task the King of Pop did not succeed at!

The Presley family matriarch revealed that her late daughter, Lisa Marie Presley’s decision to tie the knot with the “Thriller” hitmaker had some hidden agenda, which seemed eerie to her.

Priscilla Presley is spilling all the never-before-seen and never-before-heard tea about her family and, most importantly, her life with her late daughter, up until her death.

The 80-year-old revealed details on how she received the news of her daughter and Michael getting married, much to her dismay and disapproval.

She recalled asking her about the authenticity of the story when the rumors of them being an item started, and when the marriage happened, she was the least excited person.

“I was appalled by the marriage. I asked her if they had a physical relationship; like so many people, I wasn’t sure. She said yeah,” Priscilla noted, according to excerpts obtained by The Sun. She continued that the pop singer failed to win over her affection, and she constantly worried over his true intentions for Lisa.

She wrote in the memoir that she believed Michael had hand-picked Lisa for his mission due to her last name and their influence. As reported by The Daily Mail, Priscilla added that the singer was desperate for a publicity boost at the time after he was accused of molesting minors.

“Michael was a manipulative man, and I think he had his sights set on her long before she realized it. The childlike innocence he projected was part of his public mask,” the 80-year-old stated in the new memoir “Softly, As I Leave You.”

In the memoir, which is gearing up for a September 23 release, Priscilla noted that her interaction with Michael was also far from smooth due to her suspicion and how he also acted around her.

She described their relationship as very “bizarre,” noting that whenever he was around her or at family events, he would often prefer spending time with little kids over adults. 

The 80-year-old recalled her late daughter confiding in her about Michael wanting to start a family, but she pacified Lisa to think things through and take her time before embarking on such a journey.

Well, Priscilla was able to lift that weight off her shoulders when her daughter filed for divorce two years after that conversation. She even vouched on her late ex’s behalf that he would be very relieved to know that his daughter had opted out of the marriage to Michael.

In the late media personality’s memoir “From Here to the Great Unknown,” she detailed meeting Michael first in the 70s and eventually reconnecting after she recorded her first demo in the 90s.

They became friends first, and kept in touch, until Lisa realized the singer wanted more than just friendship. By the time he made this known to her in 1994, Lisa was also on the same page.

As noted by US Weekly, Lisa shared that she quickly fast-tracked her divorce from Danny Keough to finally be with Michael, as they got married just weeks after her divorce from Keough. The ceremony was held in the Dominican Republic in 1994 with just the two of them, as they did not want the press involved.

By December 1995, Michael and Lisa had parted ways, with reports that his addiction issues dampened the flames of the marriage. The late Lisa filed for divorce in 1996, citing irreconcilable differences, and finalized the process in August same year.

The singer, who died two years ago, revealed that at the time she got together with Jackson, he was still a virgin with no sexual experience. In her memoir, according to PEOPLE, Lisa stated that Michael had kissed Tatum O’Neal and Brooke Shields, but nothing else happened.

She also revealed a foiled attempt at Madonna trying to hook up with him once, which made her terrified of making a move, in case Michael turned her down, too.

On how things heated up between her and Michael, Lisa revealed that it happened on a trip to Vegas while she was still married to Keough, with whom she had welcomed two kids.

“Michael said,’ I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’m completely in love with you. I want us to get married and for you to have my children,’” Lisa recalled.

By the time the couple tied the knot in 1994, Michael was 35, and Lisa was 25 years old. Both celebrities passed away in their 50s, with Jackson passing on from a propofol overdose in 2009 at age 50, and Lisa dying from surgery complications in 2023, at age 54.

The media personality described Lisa’s death as the second most devastating experience after Elvis’s passing. The Blast stated that Priscilla admitted it took a while for her to accept that her daughter was truly gone after spending hours praying and hoping at the hospital.

Lisa’s unresponsive body was discovered by her ex, Keough, on a visit to her home, where he called for emergency services to get her to the hospital. Immediately, Priscilla stepped into the room; she knew he was not going to make up after seeing her attached to the life support machine.

She recalled taking her off the life support as doctors tried their best to bring back her natural breathing abilities, but things turned “code blue” afterward because her heart stopped working.

“I thought about my girl…lying in a vegetative state for the rest of her life. I said what I had to. ‘Take her off the machine, Doctor.’ My voice was barely above a whisper,” Priscilla shared in the memoir.

These days, Priscilla and the rest of the family are finding the strength to carry on day by day and focus on the present.
