One of the biggest music composers of Indian cinema – Pritam Chakraborty aka Pritam recently turned 55 on June 14, 2026.
The musician took to social media and thanked everyone for their wishes. In the long post, he further shared his future plans and seemingly announced his retirement from mainstream music.
Pritam’s Alleged Retirement Post Leaves Fans Unhappy
Taking to Instagram, Pritam shared a couple of pictures of himself and wrote, “Thank you for all the wishes. Can’t answer everyone individually, but please accept my sincere gratitude.”
He continued, “Today, I have decided to gift myself a few years to live life differently. To catch up on what I’ve missed. Time to set off on new journeys, which have been kept on the back burner for long.”
And added, “Mainstream is a great ride. But I’ve always been more curious about the roads unexplored. Thank you for all the love & support. Always….”

If this is indeed Pritam stepping back from mainstream music, fans are in for a loss as recently Arijit Singh too announced retirement.
On the work front, Pritam’s last movie was Bhooth Bangla and his upcoming work include Cocktail 2, Haiwaan, Naagzilla and Golmaal 5 among others.
