The actor-singer has recorded a Hindi version of George Michael’s ‘Last Christmas’ for Gurinder Chadha’s upcoming festive film ‘Christmas Karma’, set to release on November 14. While some fans celebrated her return to music after nearly a decade, others weren’t entirely on board with her desi spin on the global Christmas classic.

The track blends George Michael’s timeless tune with new Hindi lyrics, marking Priyanka’s first major musical project since her international singles ‘In My City’ and ‘Exotic’. However, the release quickly divided listeners online – with some calling it refreshing and nostalgic, and others criticising the lyrical translation and the Hindi-English mix.

One Reddit user wrote, “Butchering one of the most iconic Christmas songs ever. George Michael is rolling in his grave (sic),” while another commented, “It’s 2025, for God’s sake! Can we still not write better translated lyrics for copied English songs?!” Others voiced similar frustration over the bilingual approach, with one remarking, “Ya toh pura gaana English mein gaa lo ya phir Hindi mein (sic).” Still, several fans defended Priyanka, calling her effort “bold” and “festive in spirit.” A comment read, “PRIYANKA SINGING AGAIN?!!!OMG (sic).”
