A live-action The Sims movie is finally moving forward after years of delays and cancellations. The project is being produced by LuckyChap Entertainment and Vertigo Entertainment, with Kate Herron directing and co-writing alongside Briony Redman.
EA confirmed in September 2024 that the film will also be produced in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios.
The journey to this film has been long. Back in 2007, 20th Century Fox bought the rights to The Sims and planned a movie written by Brian Lynch and produced by John Davis. However, the project stalled for years, and when Disney acquired 21st Century Fox in 2019, the original plans were canceled along with several other video game adaptations.
