The Purbeck Film Festival is set to kick off its autumn season with a “star-studded” line-up of films and events.
This announcement follows a record-breaking summer season and organisers say the new programme will continue to “bring world-class cinema to Dorset.”
A significant highlight of the festival’s autumn season is the appointment of academy award-winning director Sir Sam Mendes as the festival’s newest patron.
Sir Sam Mendes, known for his work on titles like American Beauty, Skyfall and 1917, expressed his enthusiasm for this role.

He said he was delighted to be a patron of the festival moving forward and looks forward to “seeing what you come up with this year.”
The festival will open with An Evening with the Foxes, an event celebrating the acting dynasty.
Four members of the Fox family will share stories and insights into their contributions to stage and screen.
Other highlights of the programme include a special edition of the Asian film, In the Mood for Love and pre-release titles from the Cannes Film Festival.
The North, a Dutch film which became the top arthouse film in the Netherlands, will be shown with a Q&A with the director.
Andrea Etherington, festival chair, said: “The Festival is enormously proud of this year’s autumn programme, which once again brings together a wide variety of British and international films to inspire and entertain audiences.”
The Purbeck Film Festival will run from Friday, October 17, to Sunday, November 2, across more than 30 venues in Purbeck and the surrounding area.
