In a meeting with Welsh actor Ruth Jones of “Gavin & Stacey” sitcom fame in Wales recently, Camilla asked, “Haven’t you lost masses of weight?”
“Yes, I have, thank you!” Jones replied in the video shared by the Daily Mail. “I’ve lost a bit of weight!”
Camilla may have remembered Jones from her days on the original 2007-10 run of “Gavin & Stacey,” the romantic comedy series created by Jones and co-star James Corden. Or perhaps from the show’s Christmas episodes in 2019 and 2024. But Camilla also met Jones in March at Buckingham Palace, according to photos.
According to Psychology Today, asking about someone’s weight loss can carry “unintended and harmful consequences.”
Psychology Today suggested that even though the queen likely meant well, she might want to try these comments instead:
“You seem so happy and full of energy lately!”
“I love how confident you seem—you’re glowing!”
“I’m so proud of you for prioritizing your health.”
“Your hard work and dedication are inspiring.”
“You look so healthy and strong.”
Some observers gave Her Majesty a royal rebuke.
