Queen Camilla Told Friend Meghan Markle Had ‘Brainwashed’ Prince Harry Before They Left The Royal Family, Bombshell New Book Claims

There have been plenty of revelations in royal biographer Tom Bower‘s new book Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, which is due to be released on March 26th.

Per excerpts published in several outlets over the past few days, much of the focus in the book is on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle… and, unsurprisingly, the couple don’t come across very well! Keep reading for the details…

Queen Camilla Claims Meghan Markle ‘Brainwashed’ Prince Harry

According to the Times of London, which first published the excerpts, one of the things Bower wrote was that Queen Camilla has not been very complimentary of the former Suits actress over the years – even before Prince Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals in 2020!

Much has been written about Camilla and Meghan’s strained relationship in the past, so this doesn’t surprise us too much. A source previously told RadarOnline that Meghan felt Camilla had been out to get her since “day one,” with the insider adding: “She’s convinced Camilla has been trying to undermine her and paint her as the villain from day one, and she’s adamant that she won’t open herself up to more cruelty.”

“She’s been so openly critical of Meghan within their inner circle from almost the very beginning; it’s like she’s taken it upon herself to be the family attack dog and has said out loud what others might think but are too polite to actually articulate,” the source continued at the time.

And what is written in this new book by Bower – who also wrote the explosive 2022 book Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors – all but reinforces that narrative!

In Betrayal, Bower reportedly quoted a source who said they once overheard Queen Camilla privately telling a friend that she thought the With Love Meghan star had “brainwashed” her stepson after tensions reached a boiling point in the ongoing royal family feud. Yikes!

Royal Feud Allegedly Escalated After 2018 Royal Wedding

Bower claimed the feud began escalating after Prince Harry and Meghan returned from their honeymoon in 2018. We already know Meghan and Kate Middleton had that infamous clash over Princess Charlotte‘s bridesmaid dress before the royal wedding in May 2018, so this timeline definitely aligns with past reports.

The Times also cited a passage where Prince William allegedly told his younger brother, “It’s gone too quickly,” when discussing his relationship with Meghan, a comment Prince Harry more than likely didn’t take well!

According to Bower, Prince Harry began avoiding his old friends after marrying Meghan. His personality apparently  increasingly mirrored hers, and the once “sociable and cheerful young man” had changed. Bower also claimed that the Princess of Wales, who always seemed to have a close relationship with her brother-in-law, shared similar concerns, and felt Prince Harry was vulnerable to Meghan’s influence.

Bower also suggested an element of regret and jealousy lingered in the couple, arguing that Prince Harry was “possessed by seeking revenge,” and that the Sussexes would always feel like “spares.”

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Dismiss Tom Bower’s Claims

One day after The Times published the excerpts, the Sussexes issued a statement dismissing the claims as “deranged.”

“Mr. Bower’s commentary has long crossed the line from criticism into fixation,” their spokesperson said in a statement. “This is someone who has publicly claimed that the monarchy, in fact, depends on the complete removal of the Sussexes from our society.”

The spokesperson added: “Mr. Bower has built his career constructing increasingly elaborate theories about people he does not know and has never met. Those looking for factual information will have to look elsewhere. Those seeking deranged conspiracy and melodrama know exactly where to find it.”
