Queen Elizabeth II had an interesting nickname for Prince Harry following his escape from the U.K. to America.
According to royal expert Hugo Vickers‘ new book Queen Elizabeth II: A Personal History via Sky News, Her Majesty referred to the Duke of Sussex as “a carer for [Prince] Archie” after he left his role as a senior member of The Firm.
Elsewhere in the journalist’s tell-all, he claimed Elizabeth warned Harry about rushing to marry Meghan Markle.

“The Queen herself suggested that Harry should wait a year,” Vickers claimed. The Spare author and the Suits actress began dating in 2016 and were engaged the next year.
“He did not take her advice. Instead, as we know, the wedding went ahead just over six months after the couple’s engagement,” he explained.
In 2020, Harry and Meghan let the late leader of England know that they wanted to leave their duties for life in America.
“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” the couple explained in a statement.

“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the royal family and work to become financially independent, whilst continuing to fully support Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment,” they continued.
In a statement of her own, Elizabeth said, “Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working members of the royal family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as family while remaining a valued part of my family.”
Before their exit, the pair asked the matriarch if they could remain working royals while also perusing money-making ventures. However, Elizabeth declined their request.

“The idea of the couple earning millions by cashing in on their royal titles and status was abhorrent to her Queen Elizabeth II,” royal author Robert Jobson wrote in his book Catherine: The Princess of Wales via Daily Express.
