Quinta Brunson, John Stamos, Gabrielle Union and Disney TV’s Craig Erwich will join Variety for its annual Entertainment and Technology Summit held in Los Angeles on Sept. 25.
Brunson, creator, executive producer, writer and actor on “Abbott Elementary” and Erwich, president, Disney Television Group, will speak together about how the show is the gold standard of a TV hit, resonating broadly with fans across broadcast and streaming.
Stamos, actor, producer, bestselling author and chief innovation officer of Zeam will join Jack Perry, founder & CEO of Zeam to talk about their collaboration on the ad-supported streaming service focusing on local news and entertainment content.
In other highlights, Variety will fete Gabrielle Union, actress, producer, New York Times bestselling author and founder of Proudly, with the inaugural Variety Entrepreneur Impact Award presented by Wells Fargo. Marcia Osborne, Chief Marketing Officer, Consumer Lending at Wells Fargo will present her with the award, which honors Union’s extensive achievements in connecting with followers and fans through entrepreneurship. Union will sit down with Variety’s senior entertainment writer Angelique Jackson for a conversation after the awards presentation.
The newly added speakers join previously announced participants including producer Jerry Bruckheimer, “Stranger Things” and creators Matt and Ross Duffer, actress and podcaster Nicole Byer and Jody Gerson, chairman and CEO of Universal Music Publishing Group.
Also added to the day’s slate is “Expanding Entertainment: VR’s Role in Shaping Audience Experiences,” a conversation with Sarah Malkin, Director of Entertainment Content at Meta Reality Labs, moderated by Variety’s Jazz Tangcay.
Alison Hoffman, president, Starz Networks and Laura Lancaster, head of co-production and ongoing series, Amazon Studios, will join Brett Paul, president, Warner Bros. Television Group, Katherine Pope, president, Sony Pictures Television and Lisa Katz, president, scripted content, NBCUniversal Entertainment, for a conversation about the future of streaming programming.
Chief Revenue Officer and board member of Scopely Tim O’Brien will sit down with Variety’s senior business writer, TV & video games, Jenny Maas, for an inside look at how games have evolved into one of the most powerful forms of global media, serving as social hubs and cultural touchstones. The pair will discuss how Scopely has built its success on “forever games” and “forever partners” to turn franchises into worldwide communities.
Evan Adlman, executive VP, commercial sales & revenue operations, AMC Networks and Sean Booker, head of media and entertainment sales, VIZIO, will join previously announced panelists from FOX Entertainment and Google TV for the “TV Industry Transformed” panel to examine how innovation is expanding opportunities for viewers and brand partners alike.
Harmony Korine, filmmaker, actor, writer and founder EGLRD and Dan Reich, Executive VP and Global Head of Product and Design, Paramount+, Pluto TV and BET +, will join the previously announced “Leveling Up in Entertainment Industry: AI to Unlock New Creative Frontiers” panel discussion.
Additionally, Tara Hein-Phillips, CEO of Jolt, will join previously announced executives from Neon, NBCUniversal, Disney Studios and Warner Records for the “Groundbreakers of Creator Marketing” panel moderated by Variety’s Chief Operating and Marketing Officer, Dea Lawrence.
