Rajasthan Royals are making a streaming cameo of a different kind this season – not on the pitch but on the acclaimed travel docuseries – The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy – on Apple TV+.
Hosted by Canadian comedian, actor, writer and producer Eugene Levy – a self-professed ‘homebody’ – The Reluctant Traveler follows him as he visits different countries and slowly engages with their local customs, food and experiences.
Levy’s scepticism as a traveller and unfiltered honesty keep the series grounded and relatable.
Now 78 years old, Levy has been a fixture in film and television for more than five decades. More recently, he co-created and starred in Schitt’s Creek, which became a critical success.
Over the course of his career, Levy has won four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and a Grammy Award for his work.
In the latest episode of the third season of The Reluctant Traveler titled ‘Journeying Through a Jewel of India’, Levy travels to India, Rajasthan in particular, and soaks in the culture and vibes of the region in his unique style.
Through the episode, Eugene Levy experiences a slice of what the Halla Bol way of life is all about.
Rajasthan Royals are introduced into the episode after Levy’s local guide for the episode, Indian comedian Abish Mathew, mentions the inaugural IPL champions while watching a gully cricket match in the bylanes of Jodhpur.
From that point on, the Royals remain a recurring thread in the episode, reflecting how deeply the team is woven into local culture and way of life.

The episode virtually concludes with Levy visiting the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur and sharing heartwarming and humorous interactions with Rajasthan Royals players and staff.
After a skit with Royals fielding coach Dishant Yagnik, Levy goes on to face English pacer Jofra Archer in the nets, albeit at ‘his own pace’.
Levy also converses with former Rajasthan Royals coach Rahul Dravid in the episode, following which he declares, “Now I can honestly say that in terms of cricket, this (Rajasthan Royals) is my team.”
To which Dravid responds, “Absolutely, and we’ve got one more supporter and one more fan,” before presenting Levy with a Rajasthan Royals jersey with his name on it.
The sequence concludes with Levy sharing an insightful interaction with the Royals’ Director of Cricket and Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara on how cricket became a great unifier in a country as diverse as India.
