READING, Pa. – The Reading Royals are looking to give sports fans something to cheer about after the trifecta of losses by Philly teams last night.
The Royals return to the ice at Santander Arena for a preseason showdown tonight.
“Very exciting time because Royals (hockey) is back,” said Erik Jesberger, Reading Royals broadcaster.
Hard hitting hockey returns to the ice at the Santander Arena, but it’s not just any preseason start. Fans can contribute and perhaps help shape the future of pro-hockey.
“All fans, for just a suggested five-dollar donation, can see Royals hockey in action and give back to the youth right here in Berks County,” Jesberger said.
“Right here in Reading there is the Slapshot Charities program, which provides underprivileged youth right here in Berks County to get some of the funding to step onto the ice, learn the game of hockey, of course, the best sport in the world,” he added.
When it comes to sports for kids, hockey often carries a higher price tag, which makes Slapshot Charities all the more important.
“It is the chance for all fans to contribute to that. There are the unfortunate realities that hockey is a bit of an expensive sport. This does help alleviate that and these great programs, across the Berks County area, do that,” said Jesberger.
Hockey is back and so is another opportunity to play your part.
“You can’t beat the opportunity to be on the ice as the professionals and it’s here at the Santander Arena. A lot of the skills sessions are held along with the great Body Zone sports complex as well,” Jesberger said.
Also worth noting, in addition to the suggested admission price, there is free parking at the 4th & Cherry lot.
