Meghan Markle has never joined the Royal Family to celebrate Easter for a major reason – although she marked many other occasions with them during her short stint as a working royal. The 44-year-old will likely be celebrating the Easter weekend with Prince Harry and their two children at their home in Monetcito.
The Royal Family, led by King Charles, will be stepping out in Windsor tomorrow for their annual Easter Sunday service. During Easter in 2018, Meghan and Harry were just weeks away from tying the knot so made the decision to spend the holiday separate from the family.
In 2019, Easter fell on April 21 – which also happened to be the late Queen’s birthday.
Meghan chose to skip the event as she was heavily pregnant with their now-six-year-old son Archie – although Harry attended the event on his own.
As well as the fact Meghan and Harry stepped down from royal duties two months prior, the Royal Family didn’t publicly mark Easter in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 2021 service was also cancelled due to the precautions surrouding the pandemic.
Meghan and Harry, then two years into their post-royal life, stepped out for an event for the Invictus Games in the Netherlands in 2022.
The former actress has previously celebrated Christmas with the royals, even recalling her experience in 2017 in the couple’s 2022 Netflix series.
Meghan said: “I remember so vividly the first Christmas at Sandringham.
“Calling my mom, and she’s like, ‘How’s it going?’ And I said, ‘Oh my gosh, it’s amazing’.”
She added: “It’s just like a big family like I always wanted. And there was just this constant movement and energy and fun.”
