Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35, however, did join the Royal Family on their annual walkabout on Christmas Day.
Despite not being invited, a friend close to Sarah has said the former couple would have “1000% supported” the two daughters’ decision to step out with the royals.
Speaking to PEOPLE, the friend said: “They live and die by the monarchy, so this didn’t surprise me at all. And Andrew and Sarah would have 1,000% supported it.”
Discussing Sarah’s reasoning for this, they added: “Sarah has always said her greatest gift to the monarchy was her girls. She’s going to still hold her allegiance to the Crown.”
As reported by OK!, Sarah reportedly sent “overly effusive and almost pleading” messages in her Christmas cards to King Charles and Queen Camilla.
According to a source, it appeared as though Sarah was attempting to “smooth over” the issues created by her ex-husband’s friendship with the late sex offender.
However, the insider suggested that she was simply “disgracing herself with these cringey Christmas messages”.
Another insider told OK!: “She even sent one to King Charles and Queen Camilla. Considering it was Charles who stripped her and Andrew of their royal titles, it just seems embarrassingly desperate and like a better letter.”
