Country music star Reba McEntire has spoken publicly for the first time about the death of her stepson, Brandon Blackstock, who died last week after a prolonged fight with melanoma.
He was 48. McEntire responded to a tribute posted by her son, Shelby Blackstock, on Instagram, writing, “Very well said Shelby. Yes we will miss him so much.”
In his post, Shelby McEntire’s son with former husband Narvel Blackstock expressed the family’s grief. “Words cannot begin to capture the tremendous loss our family has endured. Yesterday, we lost a brother, a father, a grandfather, and a son,” he wrote.
Blackstock was also a music manager and part of the well-known Blackstock family in the entertainment industry.
His father, Narvel Blackstock, managed McEntire’s career for decades, and the family’s ties to Nashville’s country music community span generations.
Family members said Blackstock faced his illness with courage.
“He fought bravely,” their statement said, noting that he maintained his humor and positivity despite the toll of the disease.
