Reba McEntire penned a heartfelt tribute to her late stepson Brandon Blackstock days after he succumbed to his three-year battle with cancer.
“Last week, my stepson/oldest son Brandon Blackstock went home to be with God,” she wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, August 12. “His struggle is over and he is in eternal peace in God’s presence.”
Reflecting on memories they shared, the “Consider Me Gone” singer, 70, admitted there was “no one else like him” and said she was “thankful for the time” they were able to have together.
The country star married the late talent manager’s father, Narvel Blackstock, on June 3, 1989, when Brandon was only 12 years old. McEntire and Narvel divorced in 2015.
“His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family,” she continued of her stepson. “Rest in peace, cowboy. Happy trails to you til we meet again.”

As Star previously reported, Brandon passed away on August 7 at his Montana home following a lengthy battle with melanoma. He was 48. The television producer left behind his “beautiful and loving partner,” Brittney Marie Jones, as well as his four children.
Brandon shared River, 11, and Remington, 9, with ex-wife Kelly Clarkson, who he was married to from 2013 to 2022. He also shared Savannah, 23, and Seth, 18, with first wife Melissa Ashworth.
“To say he was devoted seems cliché. It feels like an overused word, but it is the correct word,” the tribute noted. “He was a devoted father. His four children were and will always be his greatest love and his greatest legacy.”
